Roller blinds are the most popular window covering on the Fraser Coast, and for good reason. They’re affordable, they work on almost any window, and with the right fabric they handle everything from bedroom blockout to glare on a bay-facing lounge room. Most homes we measure end up with rollers in most rooms and one of the other styles below where it suits better.
Roller blind options
- Blockout roller blinds: stop almost all light. The standard choice for bedrooms, media rooms and holiday rentals.
- Light-filtering roller blinds: give privacy while letting soft light through. Good for living areas, kitchens and home offices.
- Sunscreen roller blinds: a mesh fabric that cuts glare and heat while you can still see out. Ideal for windows with a view.

Venetian blinds
Venetians let you angle the slats to control light and privacy without raising the blind. Aluminium venetians are hard-wearing and handle moisture, so they’re a common pick for kitchens, bathrooms, laundries and rental properties. Timber and timber-look venetians give a warmer finish in living areas and bedrooms, and suit older Queensland homes.
Vertical blinds and panel glides
For sliding doors and wide windows, vertical blinds and panel glides do a better job than a single wide roller. Vertical blinds are the budget option and let you angle the vanes. Panel glides use wide fabric panels on a track and give a cleaner, more modern look on large doors. Both stack to one side so you can still use the door.
Fabrics made for the Fraser Coast
Strong sun and salt air shorten the life of cheap blinds. We recommend UV-stable fabrics on north and west-facing windows, and powder-coated or marine-grade brackets and chains for homes near the water in Urangan, Torquay and Scarness. It adds a little to the cost upfront, and it’s the difference between blinds that last and blinds that fade and seize within a few summers.
How our blind installation works
We bring fabric samples to your home so you can see them in your own light, measure every window, and give you a written quote with the price for each one. Once you approve it, your blinds are made to order. On installation day we fit everything, check each blind runs properly, set the cord safety devices, and take the packaging away.
Roller blind FAQs
What's the difference between a recess fit and a face fit?
A recess fit sits inside the window frame for a neat, built-in look. A face fit mounts on the wall or architrave and overlaps the window, which blocks more light around the edges. Bedrooms that need to be dark usually suit a face fit. We’ll recommend one at the measure depending on the window depth.
Can you match new blinds to ones I already have?
Often, yes. Bring us a room with blinds you like and we’ll look for the same or a close fabric and colour. Fabric ranges change over time, so an exact match isn’t always possible on older blinds. If not, we’ll suggest something that works alongside them.
Can I have different fabrics in different rooms?
Yes. Most homes mix them: blockout in the bedrooms, light-filtering in the living areas and sunscreen on windows with a view. Keeping the same colour family throughout makes the house look consistent from the street.
