On the Fraser Coast, most people want their doors and windows open for as much of the year as possible. Security screens let you do that without worrying about who can get in, and they keep the insects out too. Roller shutters go further, closing a window off completely against light, heat, noise and storms.
Security screens and doors
A security screen uses a much stronger mesh than a flyscreen, set in a reinforced frame and fixed so it can’t be pushed or cut out easily. We install Crimsafe and Alu-Gard security screens on hinged doors, sliding doors and windows. Doors come with proper locks, and windows can be fixed or openable depending on the room.
Stainless steel mesh keeps the view and lets the breeze through. From outside during the day it’s hard to see in, which adds privacy on street-facing rooms. Near the water, the mesh and frames stand up to salt far better than aluminium flyscreens, which is why they’re popular with homes and ground-floor units in Urangan and Torquay.
Roller shutters
Roller shutters are aluminium slats that roll down over the outside of a window and sit in a box above it when they’re open. Closed, they block almost all light and heat, cut outside noise, and add a strong physical barrier against break-ins and wind-blown debris.
They’re a good fit for west-facing bedrooms that bake in the afternoon, for shift workers who sleep during the day, and for homes and holiday rentals that are left empty for weeks at a time. Manual winders are the cheapest option, while motorised shutters can run from a switch or remote.

Can security screens go on sliding doors and windows?
Yes. Sliding security doors run on their own track alongside the glass door, and window screens are made to fit each opening. We measure each one individually, including older windows that aren’t square.
Do security screens make the house darker?
A little. The mesh cuts some light, but it also cuts some of the sun’s heat, which most Fraser Coast homes are happy to trade. Most people stop noticing the difference within a few days.
Can roller shutters be motorised?
Yes. Motorised shutters run from a wall switch or remote, and can be set on a timer. We recommend a manual override so you can still open and close them if the power goes out.
